Marathi cinema has earned acclaim both nationally and internationally for its diverse range of films spanning social dramas, romantic comedies, historical epics, and experimental art-house projects. Over the years, several Marathi films have not only garnered critical acclaim but also achieved significant success at the box office, setting new benchmarks for the industry.

Sairat (2016)

This romantic drama broke barriers with its narrative of forbidden love between a low-caste boy and a high-caste girl. The movie crossed over ₹100 Crore worldwide,  &"Sairat" earned praise for its compelling storyline and memorable music, launching newcomers Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar to stardom.
