15 Scary After Effects of Coronavirus Everyone Should Know

1. Chest Pain and Discomfort

Kerri Noeth, who is on day 36, told WABC news, "I feel a burning and tingling across my chest and my neck that came with a hot flash," " It's just been a wide range of lingering symptoms, especially heart palpitations, and severe discomfort in my chest and ribs."

2. Lack of smell and taste

One symptom that has appeared to many people is the loss of the ability to taste and smell, normally at the beginning, but for some, it hasn't returned."I like to have a sense of taste and smell," Susan Silverman, who was on day 38, told WABC News.

3. Vertigo

Silverman also had vertigo. WebMD says: "Vertigo is a sensation of imbalance." "If you have these dizzy spells, you might feel like you are spinning or the world around you is spinning."

5. Chronic Heart Damage

Although doctors are not entirely sure why some COVID patients suffer from heart damage. A small study published on March 27 in JAMA Cardiology found that more than a fifth of patients had heart damage as a result of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China. Health experts believe you may have to reduce oxygen and myocarditis.

A separate review published in JAMA Cardiology by the University of Texas Health Science Center found that some of the survivors of the virus suffer from persistent heart damage. Those with cardiovascular problems get more harm, which increases the risk of heart attacks and stroke.

6. You Have a Persistent Dry Cough

"The hacking and dry cough present in COVID is due to irritation of the lung tissue. When air enters the lungs and passes irritated tissue, it causes coughing," says Dr. Leann Poston. "Your cough will likely continue until your body heals completely any damaged tissues," says Dr. Seema Sarin, director of lifestyle medicine, EHE Health.

7. Post-ICU Syndrome

"This is a common result of the necessity to be intubation and housed in the intensive care unit for a long period of time, which is not common in COVID-19 patients who need hospitalization," says Dr. Christine Traxler. "The main symptoms observed are similar to PTSD, with anxiety, depression, nightmares, memories, increased suicide risk, and long-term physical and mental health complications arising from the stress of this type of medical experience."

9. Brain Damage

"For patients with a very serious disease using COVID-19, changes in lung and kidney function can lead to chemicals in the blood that is toxic to the brain," says Dr. James Giordano, professor of Neurology and Biochemistry at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, DC."The effects of these chemicals can cause changes in brain function, and some can last for several weeks or months (if not longer in some cases)."
