Navya Nair, originally named Dhanya Veena, was born on October 14, 1985, in Cheppad, Alappuzha, Kerala. Her father, Raju Nair, was a telecom worker before retirement, and her mother, Veena Nair, is a former high school educator. She has a sibling, Rahul Nair.

She completed her elementary and secondary education from Bethany Balikamadam High School in Nangiarkulangara and M.S.M. Secondary School, respectively. She also holds degrees, such as an M.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Literature. At sixteen, she began her acting career.

While on her recent visit to Australia for the Onam festivities held by the Malayali Association of Victoria, the actress was detained at Melbourne airport and fined Rs. 1.14 lakh as a penalty. At a public event, Navya revealed that her father had gifted her the gajras before her departure to Singapore. 

Navya stated that her actions were illegal, but she was unaware of this prior to doing it. Authorities told her to pay the fine within 28 days, she said. She also stated the sum that was billed to her as the penalty.

However, Ramankutty quickly develops feelings for the girl's sister, Gowri (Navya Nair), while she feigns affection for her uncle's son (Boban Kunchakko), a pop singer from Bangalore. However, Ramankutty eventually discovers that Gowri is in love with him, but Thampi believes that the women in Ramankutty's family tend to die young, making him oppose their marriage.
