Akshay Kumar is set to return to theaters with tent pole entertainer "Bell Bottom". This spy entertainer was filmed entirety during the pandemic in a bio-bubble in Scotland, with all the prep also taking place virtually. When giving information on how to make a film during the pandemic, director Ranjit Tiwari told: "Vashu (Bhagnani) Ji and Jackky (Bhagnani) made the effort to bring the whole team together and take them down. For me, the challenge was making the movie during the pandemic, when they weren't supposed to find us or leave our homes. Even preparing for "Bell Bottom" was something new because we couldn't meet. We did the whole casting and preparation process through video calls. Look and feel experiments were carried out when we traveled to Scotland. All of these things were really scary and difficult. I guess it was a great initiative by the whole team to produce the film."
Following the trailer and posters for the film, Akshay looks classy in his transition to a spy in the '80s. Ask Ranjit if he was always his first choice for the film Bell Bottom and without hesitation, he said, “Akshay was absolutely the first choice, and directing him was a dream come true. To direct him so early in my career couldn't have asked for more”.
As cinemas across the country prepare to welcome a big movie, those in Maharashtra have not received any permission to start the business. Expressing his thoughts, the director adds: “I am disappointed, we loved the theaters that opened in Maharashtra. But at the same time, I understand the need for the government to keep it closed for a while, they know the situation better than all of us because they are seeing it from above. You should also respect his decision. But for my part, of course, this is disappointing. I would have loved for people in Maharashtra to see the movie as well and hope that cinemas will open here soon so they can see the movie as well. "
"Bell Bottom" also features Vani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi in key roles. This spy thriller is based on the true events of a kidnapping that took place in 1984.
