Actor Kartik Aaryan has been cast in the lead role in Shashanka Ghosh's romantic thriller "Freddy." The film is produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms and Jay Shewakramani's Northern Lights Films.
Kartik Aryan, 30, said that as an artist, his goal is to explore different genres of music, and "Freddy" gave him the opportunity. "I am venturing into uncharted territory that is equally interesting and intriguing. I look forward to dwelling in the world of 'Freddy' and bringing this dark romantic thriller to life," the actor said in a statement.
Freddy's film marks the "Luka Chuppi" actor's first collaboration with Kapoor, Shewakramani, and Ghosh. Ekta Kapoor said she is excited to begin work on the film, which is spreading through the floors here Sunday. “I’m thrilled to have Kartik on board. His choices of the subject have always been unique and this one is no different. Collaborating with Jay makes it even more special."

Ghosh, who previously worked with Kapoor on Veere Di Wedding, said the team wanted to give audiences an "exciting" movie experience with "Freddy." "As a filmmaker, there is a lot to play with this genre, such as emotion. I am confident that the film will be one of the best exciting cinematic experiences for audiences across the country," he said.
Shwakramani said that he is happy with his collaboration with Kapoor and Aryan.
In addition to 'Freddy', Aryan is also working on Ram Madhvani's action thriller 'Dhamaka', Anees Bazmee's horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and the drama-thriller Captain India directed by Hansal Mehta.
