Ayodhya's Deepotsav: More than 5,00,000 light up Saryu banks

Ayodhya was decked up like a lady to commend the celebration of Diwali on Saturday which saw the lighting of a record 5.51 lakh earthen lights at nightfall.

The sacred city started Deepotsav festivities on Friday within the sight of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The banks of the sacred Sarayu waterway in the city, the sanctuary of Ram Janambhoomi, Hanuman Garhi sanctuary were enlightened with the lights.

The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh has been arranging an amazing 'Deepotsav' in Ayodhya on the event of Diwali consistently since the time it came to control in the state.






The current year's Deepotsav was the first since the decision in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land question came, with the whole contested land being given over to the Hindus.

On August 5, an excellent Bhoomi Pujan was held to establish the framework stone for the development of the heavenly Ram Mandir sanctuary.
