Boycott Fawad Khan Movie Abir Gulaal

Following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, increasing demands for a prohibition on the imminent film Abir Gulaal, featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan alongside Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor, have ignited a vigorous discussion online.

Pakistani Actor Banned In Indian Cinema

In 2016, Fawad and others became embroiled in a controversy when the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association implemented a ban on Pakistani artists participating in Indian films following the Uri attacks. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena party warned it would obstruct the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and presented an ultimatum for Pakistani artists to exit India. The CBFC ultimately approved the film for release. In October 2023, the Bombay High Court dismissed a petition that sought to ban Pakistani actors, performers, and technicians from working in India.

Fawad Khan, recognized for his performances in Khoobsurat and Kapoor & Sons, has preserved his global prominence through ventures like Ms. Marvel (2022) and The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022), which is the highest-grossing film in Pakistan. Kapoor, known for her role in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021), will also feature in Netflix’s Mandala Murders and the upcoming Bollywood film Badtameez Gill.

Abir Gulaal might be a love story situated in London, yet its launch is now profoundly linked to genuine emotions and national feelings. Only time will reveal whether the film captivates audiences or sparks further discussion.
