Naga Chaitanya And Sai Pallavi's Latest South Movie Thandel Review

The latest South movie Thandel has finally hit the screens, and fans are eagerly diving into the romantic action thriller.

With South cinema continually raising the bar, Thandel brings together the much-loved Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in a gripping love story.

Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, this movie promises to blend patriotism, romance, and action, set against the backdrop of the vast ocean. But does it live up to the hype?

Let’s break down what’s working and what’s falling short in this Latest South Movie!

Thandel movie

Cast And Crew

Thandel is the newest Telugu romantic action thriller featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. The film is helmed by Chandoo Mondeti, and its narrative revolves around fishermen from Srikakulam who inadvertently wander into Pakistani waters while on a regular fishing expedition.

Latest South Movie Thandel Story

Raju (Naga Chaitanya) and Satya (Sai Pallavi) have loved each other since they were kids. Raju takes on the role of Thandel (the leader of the fishing boat) and spends several months at sea.

A worried Satya urges Raju to cease fishing and seek employment on land. Although Raju assures Satya, he subsequently explores the ocean. His boat unintentionally reaches the shores of Pakistan.

Thandel Performance

Sai Pallavi (in the role of Satya) perfectly embodied her character! While she couldn't effectively speak in a Srikakulam accent as she excelled in Telangana slang, she still performed well.

Her dance steps in the Namo Namah Shivaya song were elegant. Naga Chaitanya (in the role of Thandel Raju) was satisfactory. Even though this isn't his best effort, he put forth his utmost to succeed in the role. Devi Sri Prasad's background music and songs were effective only to a limited degree.

Final Verdict

Thandel ultimately turns out to be a superficial love story lacking emotional depth, set against a patriotic backdrop. The movie falls short and fails to meet the expectations set by the director’s and lead duo’s reputation.

The Latest South Movie, Thandel, featuring South stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, hit theaters on Friday, February 7. Up to now, the reaction to the film has been positive, with numerous people lauding the main performances of the leading actors.

Thandel Latest South Movie Box Office Collection

The Tollywood romantic action thriller was anticipated to do well in the Telugu states, and that’s precisely what occurred, as the pre-sales were primarily fueled by the Telugu regions.

In the final figures, Telangana ranked first among all states with pre-sales totaling 1.71 crore gross. Andhra Pradesh secured the second position, achieving pre-sales totaling 1.14 crore gross on the opening day.

Although the creators attempted to reach markets outside the Telugu regions, they did not succeed based on ticket sales. Regarding the total advance booking for day 1, Thandel generated ticket sales of 3.40 crore gross (not including blocked seats). This comprises a sale exceeding 1.81 lakh tickets at the box office, which is a positive figure.

Thus, this Latest South Movie has achieved a respectable show count of approximately 2,900, though it might have been greater. Nevertheless, the Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi film can achieve impressive figures if it maintains high occupancy during the day, particularly for the evening and night screenings.

In contrast to Naga Chaitanya’s previous theatrical release, Thandel is anticipated to achieve a significantly larger opening at the Indian box office. For those unaware, Naga's most recent film, Custody, made only 3.20 crore net on its opening day. Discussing Sai Pallavi’s most recent theatrical release, Amaran, it amassed 21.80 crore net. Her most recent release won't generate even 50% of this.

The pair was last spotted together in Love Story, which came out in 2021. On the first day, it garnered a strong net of 9.05 crore in India.

While Thandel showcases strong performances from Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, the film ultimately falls short of its potential, leaving audiences craving more depth and substance in its storytelling.
