The eagerly awaited movie Game Changer, helmed by Shankar and starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and Anjali with SJ Suryah and Srikanth in significant roles, is a political action drama that explores the complex issues of corruption in the Indian political landscape.

Shankar, famous for his epic storytelling, makes his Telugu directorial debut with Game Changer. His distinctive style is apparent in the film's opulent production and storyline framework. The tale, written by Karthik Subbaraj, intertwines action, drama, and social critique, although it at times heavily relies on well-known tropes.

Ram Charan showcases a captivating performance in dual roles, effortlessly shifting between the upright Ram Nandan and the earthy Appanna. As the main character of the tale, he navigates the narrative with exceptional skill. Although his depiction of Ram Nandan is filled with flair and confidence, it is his sincere portrayal of Appanna that genuinely connects with the viewers.

Kiara Advani portrays Deepika, the love interest of Ram Nandan. Her personality tempers Ram's rage and motivates him to pursue the IAS. Although Ram and Kiara shine on screen, their romantic storyline seems a bit predictable. Anjali, portraying Parvathy, takes on a significant role as Appanna's spouse, supporting his ideals and mission. The emotional intensity she adds to the narrative strengthens the film's foundation.

Srikanth, portraying Bobbili Satyamurthy, impresses with his role as the villain. His vibrant exchanges with Appanna enrich the story. SJ Suryah, recognized for his unique style and quirks, showcases another impressive performance as Bobbili Mopidevi.

The movie begins with Ram's shift from being an IPS officer to an IAS officer, showcasing a sleek action scene where he resolves past grievances. The first half details his transformation from an impassioned college student to a dedicated public servant. While it uses some common tropes and contrived humor, the first half concludes with a surprising twist, paving the way for an entertaining second half.

The final segment of the film shifts direction, evolving into a politically motivated story grounded in reality. The script, outline, and even the color scheme adjust to enhance this change.

Game Changer collection

Thaman's score enhances the film, providing a soundtrack that aligns with its themes. Tirru's cinematography portrays the epic and raw aspects of the narrative, utilizing vibrant visuals that elevate the audience's experience. Editing by Shameer Muhammed and Ruben guarantees a unified narrative progression.

The production quality showcases Shankar's dedication to top-notch filmmaking, featuring lavish visuals in the musical segments. "Jaragandi" is marked as the standout track, whereas the well-known "Naanaa Hyraanaa" has not yet made it to the final selection. The team has declared its participation beginning January 14.

Although Game Changer captivates with its stunning visuals and socially pertinent themes, it stumbles in aspects that undermine its overall effectiveness. At times, the story becomes predictable, depending on well-known themes of love, political corruption, and systemic injustice. The screenplay’s instructive tone, while striking at moments, may come across as overly forceful, allowing scant space for nuance.

Game Changer Box Office Collection Day 1

The first collaboration between Shankar and Ram Charan has gained early traction, as the star is backed by the Telugu states. The opening day advance ticket sales in Andhra Pradesh ended at 15.17 crore gross, while Telangana recorded 9.81 crore gross. These two states greatly overshadowed other states. Nonetheless, in spite of the Shankar brand, Tamil Nadu is falling short, with only 1.48 crore gross generated from pre-sales.

In total, Game Changer’s first day advance booking gross reached a strong 31.60 crore gross at the Indian box office. This encompasses the sale of more than 9.69 lakh tickets nationwide. As stated earlier, the pre-sales are primarily supported by the Telugu regions. This impressive figure has established the standard for the Sankranti launches.
