The Tamil film industry experienced a slow start in 2024, with no major releases except for the re-release of "Ghilli" starring Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha, which performed exceptionally well at the box office. However, smaller-budget films gained attention and positive feedback from netizens and movie enthusiasts.

One standout is the Soori starrer "Garudan," which received an astonishing response as a crime thriller. Recently, it was announced that the Soori and Unni Mukundan starrer "Garudan" is set for an OTT debut. The official streaming site announced its Prime Day lineup on social media, stating, “Epic Entertainment Marathon incoming, the full #PrimeDay lineup is here.”

"Garudan" will start streaming on Prime Video on July 3, 2024, in Tamil, with English subtitles.

"Garudan" is a Tamil action film directed by RS Durai Senthilkumar, based on a story by Vetrimaaran. Following the commercial success of "Viduthalai: Part 1," Soori takes the lead role in this film. The cast includes M. Sasikumar, Unni Mukundan, Shivatha Nair, Revathy Sharma, Samuthirakani, and Rajendran.

The movie's production commenced in January of this year and wrapped up within a month. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the soundtrack. The project was financed by Vetrimaaran and K. Kumar through their joint venture, Grass Root Film Company and Lark Studios. The action thriller premiered in theaters on May 31, 2024, and was praised for its execution and commendable performances.

Soori and Unni Mukundan's Upcoming Films

Currently, Soori is preparing for the release of "Viduthalai 2," the sequel to his cult classic thriller "Viduthalai: Part 1." The movie features an ensemble cast, including Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Ilavarasu, Vijay Sethupathi, and Manju Warrier. "Viduthalai Part 2" is financially supported by Elred Kumar and Vetrimaaran through RS Infotainment and Grass Root Film Company.

Meanwhile, Unni Mukundan is gearing up for his high-octane thriller "Marco," directed by Haneef Adeni. The film is produced by Shareef Muhammed and Abdul Ghadaf under Cubes International.

With "Garudan" making its way to Prime Video and their upcoming projects, both Soori and Unni Mukundan continue to make significant strides in the Tamil film industry.
