Saif Ali Khan, a versatile actor and ‘Nawab of Pataudi’ turns a year older on 16th August. Born to actress Sharmila Tagore and legendary cricketer Tiger Pataudi, Saif at the early age decided to follow the footsteps of his glamorous mother into the Hindi Film industry. Dil Chahta Hai:
Saif’s portrayal of affable ‘Sameer’ in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Dil Chahata Hai’, proved his prowess in comic roles. Saif was well appreciated by the audience in this role. ‘Sameer’ perfectly described the new age metro man in new light.
No one thought that dashing Saif Ali Khan can pull off non-descript, scheming ‘Langda Tyagi’ in Prakash Jha’s fiction drama ‘Omkara’. Saif won accolades for the role and established him as an actor who wants to experiment with variety of roles.
Prakash Jha’s hard hitting movie which commented on cast based reservation in education system presented Saif in different avatar. Saif played role of an aspiring teacher ‘Deepak Kumar’, trying to get a job in an well reputed school. Saif’s middle class ‘Deepak Kumar’ was different from his earlier roles.
Ek Haseena Thi:
Saif ventured out of his comfort zone to play negative character in Shriram Raghavan’s thriller ‘Ek Hasina Thi’. Saif played handsome, mysterious businessman ‘Karan Singh Rathod’ who framed an innocent girl for a crime. Saif’s cunning and cruel Karan was bang perfect and can be termed as one of his unique roles.
Saif tried his luck with off-beat cinema with director Homi Adajania’s debut movie ‘Being Cyrus’. Saif was quite comfortable in the title role of ‘Cyrus Mistry’ in the movie. He blended superbly with the rest of the amazing cast and gave a new dimension to this quirky comedy movie.
