Sonu Sood is quite excited for this film and he said, “It's challenging to play a real life character because you know that it existed in the history and you have certain parameters to follow and stay within. I'm sure when you're working with a brilliant director like Krish, a huge ensemble and a brilliant technical team; there is no way to go wrong. So we are all on our toes to give our best.”

This would not be the first time when Sonu Sood would be playing the role of a warrior in any historical drama film. Earlier, he was a part of ‘Jodha Akbhar’ in the year 2008 and before that ‘Shaheed-E-Azam’ in the year 2002, where in both the films he depicted the role of a warrior.

The film ‘Manikarnika’ has been in the news for quite a reason, from Kangana’s horse riding lessons at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi race course with one of finest riders – Suresh Taporia for the film and her training in sword fighting and other warfare skills. Recently, the actress got hurt while filming the sword scenes for the film in Hyderabad. The actress suffered a deep cut on her forehead and was instantly hurried to the hospital where she got 15 stitches.

Film has been written by KV Vijayendra Prasad who also penned ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. Previous Ketan Mehta had to direct the film but the actress and Ketan were creatively not on the same page and therefore now Krish who has previously directed ‘Gabbar is Back’ is helming the film.

On the work front, Sonu Sood has been reportedly bagged J P Dutta’s war drama ‘Paltan' which also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Pulkit Samrat among others and is based on the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-China war.

Directed by Krish and co-produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain and co-produced by Nishant Pitti, ‘Manikarnika’ is slated to release on April 27, 2018.
