Alia Bhatt-Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Raazi’ Gets a Release Date

Two powerhouses of talents are coming together with an extremely sensible and focused director with an equally hard gritting film ‘Raazi’. Yes, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Raazi’ directed by Meghana Gulzar is finally gone on the floors and has also got a release date. The film will be released on 11th May, 2018.

Meghna’s last film ‘Talwar’ was a gripping film based on the life of Aarushi murder case. Her next film ‘Raazi’ is based on author Harinder Sikka’s book ‘Calling Sehmat’. The film will revolve around the life of a Kashmiri woman who is married to an Army officer across the border and provides Indian intelligence with invaluable information during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The story will encapsulate her juggle as a wife and as a responsible citizen of the nation. Initially Alia was apprehensive to do this film due to its controversial subject but it was her father Mahesh Bhatt who convinced her to go ahead with this film.

The film is being produced by Dharma Productions in association with Junglee Pictures. Producer Karan Johar revealed the release date of the film. He tweeted, “Exciting date announcement! #Raazi releasing 11th May, 2018... @aliaa08 @vickykaushal09 @DharmaMovies @JungleePictures @meghnagulzar,” (sic). Alia Bhatt also shared the news of the date release of the film on her twitter handle and also shared a post on instagram.

Previously it was being said that a big set depicting Kashmir will be made in Mumbai but now it is finalized that the film will be shot in Punjab and Kashmir followed by a small schedule in Mumbai. Meghna Gulzar is ambitious for this project and is trying to do something in a new space, recreating India and Pakistan of the 1970s on sets and real locations. She and her team have done a thorough research to get into the period and the correct dialect.

Work wise, Alia already has two films in the pipeline. She will be seen opposite Ranveer Singh in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’ and opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Ayan Mukherji’s super hero film ‘Dragon’. On the other hand, Vicky, has films like ‘Manmarziyan’ and Sanjay Dutt biopic in his kitty. He will also be next seen in romantic comedy “Love Per Square Foot” opposite Angira Dhar which will be directed by Anand Tiwari and produced by Ronnie Screwvala.
