Ranbir Kapoor to shoot Sanju’s dark drug phase in NY

Ranbir Kapoor has given more than his heart and soul to his upcoming film based on the life of Sanjay Dutt. We have been seeing his transformation according to different phases of Sanju’s life and as per the images that has gone viral, his efforts are really commendable. Ranbir will be portraying six different phases of Sanjay Dutt’s life on the silver screen and now he will start filming the darkest phase of the ‘Khalnayak’ actor’s life in New York. As mentioned by Sanjay himself a couple of times that the darkest phase of his life was when he was sent to a rehab in New York to fight against his drug addiction, Ranbir Kapoor is all set to experience the same journey and bring it live on the big screen.

RK is busy promoting his maiden production ‘Jagga Jasoos’ alongside ex-beau Katrina Kaif. The film is all set to release on the 14th July 2017. He is busy with the last leg of the promotion of the film and post that he will be off to New York to be a part of IIFA 2017 and will shoot parts of Sanjay’s biopic there.

Sanjay Dutt’s drug phase started in the 80’s and the actor himself has acclaimed that there was no drug in the world that he did not try. When he was taken to the rehab in New York, the doctors there were amazed that how did he survive after taking in so much of drugs? These parts of the actor’s life will be shot by Ranbir and Raj Kumar Hirani in the Big Apple. Anushka Sharma and Vicky Kaushal shall also be part of the team there. Anushka is playing the role of a journalist in the film and Vicky will be seen playing as Sanjay Dutt’s best friend.

Ranbir Kapoor considers this film close to his heart and he revealed that the film will teach everyone something. It will talk about human flaws, the emotional father-son story, Sanjay Dutt’s relationship with his best friend, with the women in his life. The film will capture various emotions; it will be emotional, funny, sad and bittersweet. The youth will surely learn a lot from his mistakes.

The Sanjay Dutt biopic also stars Paresh Rawal and Manisha Koirala who would be playing Sunil Dutt and Nargis in the film and also Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Karishma Tanna and Jim Sarbh. The film being produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra is scheduled for a March 2018 release.
