“Happiness is Red Wine and Dark Chocolates”
As Ernest Hemingway rightly said “Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.”
Yes, Red wine and Dark chocolate are the secret to beat wrinkles. Through a research published in BMJ Cell Biology, it states that both help rejuvenate old cells by making them look younger and the old cells start to behave like young ones. Chemicals found in Red wine and Dark chocolate make the older cells to divide and even had longer telomeres, usually the older cells the strands of DNA in cells gradually lose the protective telomeres that act like the plastic tips at the end of shoelaces. Brighton’s Prof Lorna Harries said: “Our data suggests that using chemicals to switch back on genes switched off as we age might provide a means to restore function to old cells. Both the food items are rich in flavonoids which are majorly known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Professor Lorna Harries, Dr. Eva Latorre, and their colleagues discovered that if you add ‘resveralogues’, which is a chemical similar to resveratrol- to the older cells, the cells start acting like young cells. Scientists have effectively been able to reverse the effect of ageing on older cells.
Red wine has antioxidants like resveratrol and tannin which help in restoring collagen and elastic fibres which help in restoring the younger cells of the skin. Dark chocolate also keeps your skin safe from water retention, redness, acne and wrinkles, the higher the content of raw cocoa, the greater the antioxidant activity so look for the darkest chocolate possible.
If you are not a fan of drinking wine then you could even use it in a facial. Mix it with rosehip, strawberries, grapes and essential oils before applying to the face, and then massage for 10 minutes and wash with cold water.
But do remember the fact that it is just Red Wine and Dark chocolate that can help you with ageing not White wine or milk chocolates.
“Anything is good if it's made of chocolate.”
According to a study, Dark chocolate, reduced damaging oxidative stress and
neuroinflammation in a mouse model of aging. With ageing, Oxidative stress and inflammation increases. There is epicatechin, a flavanol found in foods such as dark chocolate, reduced damaging oxidative stress and neuroinflammation in a mouse model of aging.
After two weeks of treatment with epicatechin not only suppressed levels of oxidative stress and neuroinflammation that would normally be increased in this mouse model, but also improved memory and anxiety levels in the mice.
Just like this, in Red wine the mechanism of antioxidants sop up damaging free radicals that play a role in aging and age-related diseases.
Thus there is nothing better than enjoying your favourite drink and sweet with all its health benefits!
